Are Bitcoin prices seasonal?

I grew up relatively poor in Western New York. A rural community, I could do chores around the house for Maw for free. Or, as I quickly learned, I could hike about five miles down the road and do chores for a farmer. And I’d get paid. Needless to say, once I caught on to this revenue generating activity Maw didn’t see much of me anymore.

To this day folks are either appalled or enthralled by my work ethic. On the farm our workday started at four AM, and would last until six o’clock at night. Maybe eight or nine o’clock if something important was going on. After University I started working in Investment Banking. I felt right at home in a culture of sixteen hour days, six or seven days a week.

Some folks look down upon farmers. But it’s been my experience they are some of the shrewdest, smartest people out there. After all, they run their own businesses. Select products to sell. Acquire assets to help create the products. Engage in labour as necessary to create the product. Then harvest and sell the product into an uncertain market. To do this they need many skills.

I make no secret of the fact that I’ve been a long time student of the markets. Some call this an obsession, but I prefer to think of it as a healthy passion. It all started with the farmer I did chores for. In his home office he had a strange little device which would help him plan what crops he’d plant.

As a poor country boy, I was fascinated by the information this little device gave him. By the idea of selling something now for delivery in six month’s in the future. By the concept of knowing now what the price would be in six month’s time. And profiting from this information.
