The Importance of Consistency in Life

Do you struggle with realizing your goals? Do you procrastinate a lot? And can’t seem to hold on to something long enough to achieve the desired results?

Before we look at the importance of being consistent, let’s first explore the purpose of life.

What is your purpose in life?

As human beings, we developed the ability to think rationally and analyze our surroundings. We often wonder about the purpose of life for different reasons such as curiosity, our experiences, faith, looking for a renewed sense of meaning, etc.

To answer this question, you need to write down your goals. Your goals might include things such as eating healthy, losing a few pounds, running a successful business, improving your creativity or becoming a better person.

Setting these goals is essential, and seeing the progress can be motivating. To start seeing the progress, you need to be emotional about them. If used proactively, emotions have a huge impact on your decisions.

However, there will always be challenges to distract you from accomplishing these goals. Therefore, do not get demoralized or demotivated when you fail to do something you had set out to do. This is where consistency comes into play.

Understanding consistency

Being consistent is the difference between failure and success

“Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success.” — Dwayne Johnson

Consistency is heralded as the strategy to fully dedicate yourself completely to a task or a goal.

Being consistent is essential to improve your chances of success in any category: your business, relationships, body, emotional health and others. It’s a must-have ingredient if you’re looking to be successful.

You can set goals all you want, but until you learn to be consistent you cannot achieve the results.

Consistency allows for measurement

To decide if something new works or not, you have to try it consistently for some time. Don’t judge something as a success or failure a few days in. Good things takes time-give them at least a couple of months.

Consistency pushes you to be accountable

If you’re a leader, you set goals and pace for your organization including behaviors. Team members will emulate and follow your lead as much as they can and if you fail to be consistent, so will they.

You have to make the commitment to yourself and for yourself to stay consistent. Because the moment you start making excuses and talk yourself out of it, you’ll most likely do it repeatedly.

Consistency builds your reputation

“How you do anything is how you do everything.”- T. Harv Eker

Your track record is your reputation. It follows you everywhere. To build a good track record, you need a consistent performance, good behavior and high-value relationships. You can’t establish a track record if you keep shifting gears.

Why you’re struggling to be consistent

Ready for the answer?

2. Belief: You don’t believe in what you’re doing.

3. Value: You do not see the benefits of the efforts invested.

Consistency isn’t just a mark of being lazy. It is the key to success both in personal and business life.

What has helped you to become more consistent?
