How did the emoji come to life and why do we use them?

Probably almost anyone has heard the word emoji and we cannot be surprised — they are a part of our everyday lives, after all. But how did that happen?

Emoji, as we know them today, with almost perfect graphics and funny images which we use in conversations to express our feelings and moods, has come a long way and they have their own history.

They were created, as the word itself indicates, in Japan. At the end of the 20th century, the users of mobile phones where obsessed with sending various images and because of that, the providers of mobile services decided to find something new for their customers.

Exactly why Kurita created them. The written text has its limits — one of them being the fact that we cannot see the emotions of another person. Without emoji, our text messages would be much more plain and boring. Besides, emoji make the conversation more simple and faster — why describe something in the sentences when we can just use a picture?

In the last few years, the emoji were growing on popularity and they found their place even in popular culture — there is The Emoji Movie and some simple emoji even appeared in the famous British TV show Doctor Who. And we don ´t even need to mention the emoji trend amongst celebrities.

But why are emoji so popular? It is a language of a new millennium, language that can be understood by anyone. They are easily applied into almost every field, adjustable, they can be used in marketing and, but, what ´s the most important, they are funny and original.
